Wine tasting, or simply 'tasting,' is judging the color, swirl, smell, taste and savor of wine to make an overall quality assessment. San Diego has wine tastings for everybody who likes wine, whether you are a connoisseur, or a casual drinker, or even an inexperienced newcomer to this world of wine.
The Oenophile
For the oenophile (connoisseur of fine wines), tasting rooms or events or tours in San Diego is numerous. It is not difficult to find the right place or the right people to get the desired type or tone of a wine tasting event/room in this great city.
But there are as many places, to go for a tasting for a casual drinker as there are for a connoisseur.
The Casual Drinker
For a casual drinker, one who simply loves the taste of wine, loves the buzz a glass or two gives them, and/or even loves the enhanced taste when pairing their favorite wine with food, wine tasting parties are excellent in widening your wine selections and improving your experience with drinking wine. You might actually like another wine better than your usual favorite.
The New Wine Lover
For the inexperienced newcomer like me, wine tastings are very good in getting you come out of your comfort zone. Your limited wine selections will slowly expand, your wine-drinking experience will greatly enhance, and you will find yourself surrounded by wine lovers who will be able to answer your wine questions.
As a newbie myself, the tastings I've been at usually have more casual drinkers or wine lovers, than wine snobs. I find that wine lovers are generally personable, and much more pleasant after a glass or two.
I invite the new casual drinker to come to wine tastings with me and explore this wonderful world of wine.
